The Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor was founded in 2012 when the Sultan of Johor, DYMM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, and his consort, DYMM Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, consented to a proposal by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, in cooperation with the Royal Johor Institution, to promote the teachings of Islam.

The Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor’s primary mission is to support educational activities in Malaysia and abroad that seek to promote deeper knowledge and understanding of Islam among the general public and among Muslims and non-Muslims alike. The Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor is committed to fostering constructive dialogue between Muslim and Non-Muslim communities throughout the world for the sake of humanity and the welfare of society.
The Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor will support a diversity of forums in which discussion and cooperation can take place based on mutual respect and a commitment to shared values and principles.
The Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor ultimately seeks to reduce and remove prejudice, misinformation, and misunderstanding between Muslims and non-Muslims. In doing so, it hopes to remove hatred and division while fostering positive interactions that lead to peace and understanding within multi-faith local, regional and world communities.
The Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor is a non-profit organization and is registered under Seksyen 7, Akta Pertubuhan 1966. The registered address is at Pejabat Naib Canselor, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, 81310 UTM Skudai, Johor Bahru, Johor. The secretariat office is located at Level 2, Menara Razak, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kampus Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra, 54100 Kuala Lumpur.
The objective of Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor is to become the major investor of Universiti TeknologiMalaysia’s educational program of excellence and to provide recognition to Islamic achievements as a major contributor to the development of civilization.
